The temperature is starting to cool down, which means it’s time to take inventory of what’s hanging in your closets. Do you have the essential pieces needed to transition into the cooler winter months? Not sure what you need to add to your fashion wardrobe essentials? I caught up with Cityline Style Expert Lynn Spence recently at a fashion event at Spanner where she was the special guest. She shared her top three “must haves” of the season.
Lynn’s Three Wardrobe Must Haves:
1) “Start with a good white shirt, a good basic.”
According to Lynn, pairing a white shirt under pretty much any top makes your look complete. She adds wearing a 3/4 sleeved top and showing your elbows, “can make you look matronly,” so add a white shirt to look finished.
2)“You’ve got to get yourself some fantastic sweaters, knitwear is absolutely everything this season.”
With the weather being so unpredictable, Lynn says a big over-sized cardigan can act as a big coat when you layer it or it can just be a cardigan when it’s not as cold outside.
3)“A fabulous pair of pants, a really well fitted pair of pants. Maybe a little bit of knit, again a little Ponte. Something that fits you perfectly just to the ankle.”
Lynn says she isn’t a big fan of leggings. She says she really likes the look of a “stove-pipe” pant that goes to the ankle which will give you a lean look.
I know it was supposed to only be three “must haves” but Lynn couldn’t resist and had to add one more to the list. So here it is, the bonus must have…
4)“A fourth thing would be a fantastic little bootie also.”
So, there you have it! The key essentials of what you need from stylist Lynn Spence to help polish off your look as you transition from Fall into Winter.
