Living JOY-ously

“New year, new you!!” How many times have you heard that?? Maybe you’ve actually said it yourself or even contemplated it. The question is…how do you start on the new you? According to Holistic Nutritionist, Best Selling Author and Founder of joyoushealth.com, “It’s all about baby steps,” says Joy McCarthy.
We are exposed to thousands of chemicals everyday. Our bodies don’t know how to get rid of these toxins. That’s why Joy says it’s critical that we treat our bodies and do a detox. In her latest book, Joyous Detox, she lays out what you need to start detoxing–naturally with a whole foods based diet.
It is straight forward and easy to understand. Two 10 day meal plans, one for vegans and one for omnivores, are even included so you don’t have to stress over what to eat. All of the recipes can be found right in the book. There are 100 gluten-free, dairy-free, refined sugar-free easy to follow recipes with gorgeous photos included. Some of the recipes you’ll find yourself turning to time and time again are Matcha Green Tea Smoothie, Superfood Quinoa Bowl and Family Veggie Frittata.
If you’re looking to reduce those sugar cravings, improve you digestion, sleep better, or just overall feel better, then give the 10 day detox a try.

The Paleo Kitchen

The Paleo Kitchen-Finding Primal Joy in Modern Cooking is brought to us by two powerhouse Paleo bloggers: Juli Bauer and George Bryant. The Paleo Diet, also known as the Caveman Diet to many in basic terms refers to what foods to eat to not only nourish the body but help heal it too. Juli and George breakdown what eating Paleo is, if it’s right for you and how to get started. I don’t strictly follow eating Paleo–I just enjoy good food that’s why I gave this cookbook a try.
Check out some of the recipes I made HERE.

Happy gift giving!
